For many students in our program, barriers to academic success come in the form of poverty and the struggle of learning English as a second language. KAH tutoring serves students grades K-12th. Your participation as a tutor will make a significant change in their lives. The personal attention that our students get from one-on-one tutoring will help them excel academically, graduate high school, and pursue a journey that will help them break free from the cycle of poverty. Tutor Eligibility:

Pass a background check

Complete online mandated reporter training

Attend Kids at Heart Orientation/Training

Commit 1 hour/week during the school year (September - June)

Have access to high-speed internet and a laptop (if virtual tutoring)
Kids at Heart provides FREE virtual tutoring and mentoring for low-income students in grades K-12th. Most of our students live below the poverty line and speak English as a second language. The Kids At Heart program offers virtual tutoring countywide as well as in-person tutoring in the highest needs neighborhoods of the City of San Diego.
Students are assigned to a trained volunteer tutor who will spend weekly one-to-one tutoring sessions to assist the student with any schoolwork and help them form successful study habits.

Kids at Heart ofrece tutoría y tutoría virtual GRATUITA para estudiantes de bajos ingresos en los grados K a 12. La mayoría de nuestros estudiantes viven por debajo del umbral de la pobreza y hablan inglés como segundo idioma. El programa Kids At Heart ofrece tutoría virtual en todo el condado, así como tutoría en persona en los vecindarios con mayores necesidades de la ciudad de San Diego.
